Emitter count is your bed’s net area (after subtracting any non-planted openings) plus a waste allowance, divided by the square footage each emitter covers. Dense plantings like vegetable beds need roughly 1 emitter per square foot, perennials and flowers need about 1 emitter per 2 sq ft, and shrubs and hedges can run 1 emitter per 4 sq ft since their root zones are wider. Tubing is estimated separately in 100 ft rolls based on the total run needed to reach every emitter location.
