Composite decking is sold by board coverage, not by the linear foot. Multiply your deck’s length by its width to get square footage, subtract any openings like a stair cutout, then add a waste percentage for angled cuts and end trims. Divide that net area by the coverage of one board (its length times its 5.5 in face width) to get the board count, then round up to the nearest whole board since decking only comes in fixed lengths.
