How to calculate how many cinder blocks you need

units = ( wall area − openings ) × (1+waste) ÷ coverage per block
  1. Measure the wall Multiply length by height in feet to get gross wall area.
  2. Subtract openings Deduct the square footage of doors, windows, and any other unblocked openings.
  3. Add your waste allowance Multiply net area by 1 plus your waste percentage (10% is typical) to cover cuts and breakage.
